SICK VISITS

When you’re not feeling well, sick visits can get you on a path to recovery as quickly as possible. These acute care visits are among the services available from Dr. Sydney. Call the office to see if a same-day sick visit is possible, and keep in mind that online appointment request is always an option for less time-sensitive scheduling needs.

What are sick visits?

Sick visits, as the name implies, are visits centered on addressing a current set of symptoms. Unlike routine physicals, which seek to assess your overall health and wellness, a sick visit focuses on the issues at hand.  Because of the unpredictable nature of illness, sick visits are booked without much advance notice. Sydney Health Xpres tries to accommodate all sick visit requests either the same day or the following day.

What kind of issues can be treated during a sick visit?

At Sydney Health Xpres , We are serving patients of all ages, our practice offers a wide range of services, including annual physicals, cholesterol screening and treatment, blood pressure checks and treatment, well-child care, and gynecologic concerns. In addition, our practice specializes in preventive care and acute care for all ages. We also offer same day appointments. Some of the issues that can be addressed during these visits include:

  • ALLERGY

  • ASTHMA

  • COLD & FLU AND SINUS INFECTIONS

  • SPRAINS & STRAINS

  • MINOR CUTS AND BURNS

  • RASHES

  • STD TESTING

  • CHEST DISCOMFORT

  • MINOR LACERATIONS

  • URGENT GYN EXAMS

  • MINOR ABSCESSES

  • EAR INFECTIONS

  • PNEUMONIA

  • X-RAYS

  • BRONCHITIS AND STREP THROAT

  • PINK EYE

  • URINARY TRACT INFECTION

  • HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND DIABETIC TESTING

  • EMERGENCY MEDICATION REFILLS

These are just a few of the health issues that bring people in for sick visits. While many needs can be met during acute care appointments, there are some better suited to an emergency room setting.

If any of the following occur, call for emergency medical attention immediately:

  • Chest pain

  • Shortness of breath

  • Uncontrolled bleeding

  • Loss of consciousness

  • Visibly broken bones

If you’re uncertain how to best meet your needs, call the office for guidance.

How should I prepare for sick visits?

A bit of preparation can go a long way toward making your sick visits as productive as possible. Begin by compiling a list of all medications and supplements you’re currently taking. Many drugs can create negative interactions, so understanding your current drug therapy is important to shaping your care.

If you’re new to Sydney Health Xpres, you’ll need to provide information about your personal and family health history. You can record this information before your visit to make the most of your time at the office.

Telehealth can also be a good option for connecting with your doctor for some sick visits. It’s convenient and avoids the risk of spreading or contracting disease.

If you need a sick visit/telehealth visit, call Sydney Health Xpres to see if there’s room in the schedule for a same-day visit. Online appointment request is also an option for less time-sensitive scheduling needs.
